付向东,男,1982年毕业于武汉大学,并获得病毒学学士学位,1983年通过中美生物化学联合招生(CUSBEA)计划留学美国凯斯西储大学,并于1988年获得生物化学博士学位,1988年至1992年在哈佛大学生化与分子生物系完成博士后训练。曾任美国加州大学圣地亚哥分校细胞与分子医学系教授,获Searle Scholar (1994)和 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Scholar(1997)、武汉大学杰出校友(2003)、Ray Wu Society终身成就奖(2016)和柏林墙2020年度创新科学突破奖(2020)。2010年入选美国科学促进会成员(AAAS Fellow)。现为西湖大学生命科学院RNA生物学与再生医学讲席教授。

付向东实验室将继续关注RNA生物学及神经再生领域,致力于发育和疾病中RNA调节机制的探索,通过分子生物学、分子遗传学、生物化学,基因组学,动物行为学、电生理学等多种实验手段对疾病机理与干预展开研究。
