分别于1986年、1989年、2001年在西南农业大学获得学士、硕士和博士学位。2002年4月 - 2007年6月在中国科学院植物研究洪德元院士指导下开展博士后研究。 1998年9月 - 1999年8月荷兰瓦赫宁根农业大学访问学者。2005年9月被聘为中国农业科学院杰出人才二级学科带头人(任职柑桔研究所)。
任西南大学园艺园林学院院长。国务院学位委员会第七届园艺学科组成员(2014-),国家农业部农产品质量安全专家组(2011-2016)成员,教育部高等学校植物生产类专业教学指导委员会委员(2013-2017),中国农业科学院杰出人才计划二级(柑橘)学科带头人(2006-2014),全国农业推广硕士专业学位教育指导委员会成员。重庆市园艺学会副理事长(2009 – 2013),重庆市植物学会副理事长(2008 -)、风景园林学会副理事长(2009 -),中国园艺学会热带南亚热带果树分会理事,重庆市科学技术协会第三届委员会委员,西南大学科学技术协会第一届委员会委员。园艺园林学院院长(2006-2016)。
