赵林城,男,汉族,1942年11月26日出生于江苏盐城,毕业于中国科学技术大学,博士,中国科学技术大学教授。
1966年毕业于中国科学技术大学数学系;
1982年5月获中国科学技术大学授予的理学博士学位,导师是陈希孺院士,之后留校工作;
1988年晋升为教授,1990年任博士生导师。
1994年被选为国际统计学会(ISI)成员。
曾任中国概率统计学会常务理事,国际核心期刊“Statistica Sinica”副主编,“Statistics”、《应用数学学报》和《应用概率统计》杂志编委。
曾先后三次应著名统计学家P. R. Krishnaiah教授和C. R. Rao教授的邀请,到美国匹茨堡大学和宾州州立大学进行长达四年半的合作研究,应邀访问过美、加多所著名大学, 并三次访问台湾中央研究院统计研究所,以及巴西利亚大学数学系,香港中文大学统计系等。
他的主要研究领域包括非参数统计、回归分析、多元分析、信号处理以及概率论的极限理论等方面。
长期从事概率论与数理统计教学与理论研究,主要研究领域包括非参数统计,线性模型,回归分析,多元分析, 信号处理。
在“Annals of Statistics”,“Annals of Probability”,“Journal of Multivariate Anal¬ysis”,“IEEE Trans. ASSP” 以及《中国科学》等国内外学术刊物上发表论文160篇,出版专著两本,培养博士10人,硕士18人。
参加过国家自然科学基金八五、九五两个重点项目,多次主持国家自然科学基金和教育部博士点基金研究项目. 和合作者在信号数目检测的随机效应模型中,提出了模型选择的一个新准则(见JMA, 1986, Vol.20,1-25及26-49), 已得到SCI的120多个引用以及美国物理科学技术百科全书的引用,在U-统计量,密度估计,非参数回归等方面的工作,得到了美国统计科学百科全书及若干专著和文章的多次引用. 与陈希孺院士合作。
他在建立信号数目检测的随机效应模型的研究工作中,在著名的AIC等准则的基础上,提出了模型选择的一个新的一般性准则,有关结果已为美国《物理科学和技术百科全书》(1987)所引用,单篇得到SCI记录的130个引用,其中关于罚函数的思想和形式已为许多作者接受和采用。

Fisher: The Founder of Modern Statistics”的文章(Statistical Science, 1992)中,也特别提到赵的工作。他在U-统计量方面的两项工作,已为美国《统计科学百科全书》(1988)以及若干专著和文章所引用,苏联著名学者柯罗廖克等在他们的专著中详细介绍了这两个定理的证明,并特别在导言中将其中一项工作作为该领域的一个重要成果作了介绍,他在有限总体U-统计量方面的两项工作,也得到了上述百科全书的增补本的引用,文中提出的有限总体情形的Hoeffding分解方法,已成为处理有关问题的有效工具,得到了有关作者的高度评价。
